Ceiling Fan & Light Fixture Installation
Ceiling fan installation, light fixture replacement, and recessed lighting. Fast, clean installs throughout Baldwin County.
Ceiling fans, light fixtures, and recessed cans are the small jobs that quietly make a house feel finished — and the ones most often done badly by someone who didn’t check the box, didn’t ground the fixture, or stripped a wire. Wave Electrical handles them properly. Jimmy installs ceiling fans, swaps out tired light fixtures for the ones you’ve been waiting on, lays out and installs recessed cans for whole rooms, and adds dimmers where you want them. Licensed and insured, in and out clean.
Ceiling fans aren’t optional down here. Year-round comfort in coastal Alabama humidity depends on moving air, and most rooms benefit from a fan even when the AC is running hard. If you’ve got bedrooms, living rooms, or a screened porch without a fan, the wiring is usually the easy part.
When you need this
- You bought a ceiling fan and the box you’ve got isn’t rated for the weight or the motion
- You want a ceiling fan where there’s currently just a light fixture, or no fixture at all
- A chandelier, pendant, or vanity light needs to come down and a new one go up
- You’re remodeling a kitchen, living room, or basement and want recessed lighting planned and installed
- A switch needs to become a dimmer, or you want smart switches tied to existing fixtures
- You’ve got a fan or light that’s wobbling, humming, or won’t turn off — and it’s time to fix it right
What the process looks like
Jimmy comes to you. For a simple fixture or fan swap, he brings the tools, confirms the existing box is rated correctly, swaps the fixture, tests it, and cleans up the packaging on the way out. Most swaps take about an hour. If the existing box isn’t fan-rated — and a lot of older boxes aren’t — he installs the correct one before the fan goes up. Doing it right is faster than doing it twice.
For new fan or fixture locations where there’s no existing wiring, the job grows a little. Jimmy fishes wire through the ceiling, installs the box, runs the switch leg, and patches access points back to a reasonable starting point for paint. Half a day is typical.
For recessed lighting, the visit usually starts with a layout conversation — how many cans, what spacing, what color temperature, and whether you want them dimmable or smart-switched. Then Wave Electrical cuts the holes, runs the wire, installs the cans, ties them into a new or existing switch, and tests every one. A typical room takes a day.
It’s the small stuff done well, the first time.
Frequently asked questions
A simple replacement on an existing box is manageable for an experienced DIYer. But if there's no existing box, if you want fan-rated wiring, or if the fan is in a vaulted ceiling or high location, hiring a licensed electrician is safer and faster. Jimmy handles all the above.
A standard ceiling fan replacement takes about 1–2 hours. Installing a new fan where there was no previous fixture — including running wiring — typically takes a half day.
Yes. Wave Electrical installs recessed lighting throughout Baldwin County, including new circuits where needed and compatible dimmer switches.
Often yes, but we need to verify that the existing electrical box is fan-rated to handle the weight and movement. If it's not, Jimmy will install the correct box before mounting the fan.
